Loreland's panoramic view.
Our family playground shared to the community.
What used to be a vacation home of mom’s side of family became a full-scale mountain resort meticulously created with love and passion for over 16 years.
The first rest house equipped with two beds, dining, kitchen, bath and veranda became a venue for intimate family gatherings overlooking the majestic Laguna De Bay and cosmopolitan Manila. The view is just incredible. On a clear day, one could even see the famous Manila Bay.
I spent most of my younger years here running around, hiking, swimming until I get so dark, playing in the rain, roasting lechon, eating barbeque, bananaque and kamoteque. It was an endless excursion of family get togethers, parties, reunions and the like. We swam like there’s no tomorrow. We cooked, dined, created our own mini-gardens, built sand castles, harvested kasoy and manga, ate suman, bibingka and so on. Things to do were endless. There were no facebook then, no laptops, no digicams, no ipods, no DVDs, no cable, no cellphones not even pagers and a car for us young ones. We were simply being kids communing with what nature has to offer and enjoying every moment of it.

We used to call this place Ibabaw – the reason being nasa ibabaw ng bundok. It still is Sitio Ibabaw. In 1996, Loreland Farm Resort was born to provide livelihood for the family and its community. Lo- for Lolita and Re- for Renato are my dynamo parents. They are the inseperable couple behind this grand project. Their love story is so sweet, lalanggamin ka.
I fondly remember our first office was under a mango tree and I would even help collecting garbage if needed when we were short of people to do it. It was an experience I would never regret as it builds character and good attitude. Now there's a building dedicated for admin and marketing and there's one guy whose only job is to sweep.
Summer months were spent here welcoming guests, mostly weary urbanites, families and friends who seek a day of fun and bonding away from the typical trip to the mall. During its first years of operation, I was excited to see families upon families of guests coming in. I was overjoyed. Loreland was becoming famous even without subscribing to mainstream media. Our form of advertising then was word of mouth and giving away thousands of lifetime transferrable discount cards. It worked wonders. Now those cards are still being used by loyal patrons.
Kids who used to enjoy Loreland years ago are now grown ups, many of whom come back to celebrate their wedding, birthday parties and reunions. I have also heard of stories from guests who met their loved ones here and eventually got married. Loreland is a fun place for families and friends and it will continue to be one in generations to come.

Mama and I
Five years ago while playing around with Google Earth, we saw the development surrounding Loreland as seen from space. I remember my mom saying to me “Anak, this is going to be my masterpiece.” True enough, a masterpiece that is a work in progress. She almost cried recalling how they started from scratch and see where Loreland is now. It’s a love story to her 7th baby. (We are 6 children)
Now my only wish is to see Loreland from a plane. Many have seen it. I haven't despite several plane trips.
